Introduction:
Central Drug Research Institute (CDRI) Lucknow, is one of the pioneer research institutes under the realms of Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR).The Institute came into existence way back in 1957 and since then has heralded several important research work in the field of bio-medical research. CDRI is a multifaceted research laboratory consisting of scientific personnel of varied disciplines of biomedical sciences. The Institute has 17 R & D divisions and some technical and scientific support divisions. Apart from that there are 2 data centers and 1 field station located outside CDRI aimed to assist in operational support. The Institute has rendered its valued infrastructure and expertise to develop a drug right from its conceptualization to its marketing. It employs the very latest techniques and methodologies for developing drugs, diagnostics and vaccines which act as a vanguard in preventing diseases prevalent among mankind in general and Indian population in particular.

Although the institute is currently housed in Chattar Manzil, a populous place in Lucknow, the upcoming campus at Sitapur Road plans to give the institute a new look with state-of the-art-facilities.

Research activities at Central Drug Institute (CDRI), Lucknow:
Research activities form the backbone of CDRI and are aimed at developing drugs, diagnostics and vaccines to get rid of the ailments confronted by the general mass with Indians in particular. With a mission to carry out concentrated works in various disease areas, the R & D activities of CDRI have been divided under various heads. Each research area focuses on the design and development of drugs, diagnostics/vaccines related to the concerned disease group

Apart from the research projects CDRI offers its expertise to the Indian Pharmaceutical Industry, other R & D Organizations, Academic Institutions and Allied bodies in the form of infrastructure and experience. The services being mainly:-Drug Discovery Facilities,Analytical services,Biological screening,Chemical and Fermentation technology development,Drugs control and standardization,Regulatory Toxicity,Information Data center.

Eligibility Criteria:
For the doctoral programs students need to have qualified UGC NET/GATE and also need to appear for a personal interview. There is no particular criteria for the short term training courses.
