Institute Of Minerals And Materials Technology (IMMT)
Introduction
The Institute of Minerals and Materials Technology (IMMT) previously known as Regional Research Laboratory (RRL), Bhubaneswar was set up as a prime establishment of the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR), New Delhi in 1964 in the State of Orissa, in eastern India. The laboratory specializes in providing research & development support for process and product development with special stress on preservation and sustainable utilization of natural resources.
Location
Located at the heart of the historic city of Bhubaneswar, IMMT is surrounded by Utkal University, Institute of Physics, Museum of Natural History Society, Samata Chandra Sekhar Planetarium and City Doordarshan. IMMT is situated at the side of the Kolkata-Chennai NH-5 that make the institute easily accessible by roads, train and air.

Major Areas of Research of the Institute of Minerals and Materials Technology
Characterization of minerals, ore dressing and accumulation of ore fines and concentrates.
Pyro and hydro-metallurgical extraction of metals, production of alloys and recovery of metal values from wastes.
Production of special materials and composites.
Preparation and deduction of organic and inorganic chemicals from marine, forest and mineral resources.
Process equipments and control systems design and development. Survey, and cultivation of aromatic, medical and other economic plants.
Growth of physico-chemical and analytical methods.
Basic scientific research to add-on to the research and development work mentioned above.

Library & Documentation Cell provides selected books and journals to the ongoing projects of the Laboratory. It also caters to the necessities of scientists by providing various information services using different CDROM databases, full-text journals and Internet based resources. This cell is furnished with adequate computer infrastructure and trained professionals.
