Tmt.Kannammal Educational Trust, was founded in the year 1985 with the objective of dissemination of know-ledge in the fields of Engineering Technology, Management, Medicine and Law. To achieve this objective Dr.MGR Engineering College, Chennai-600 095 was started in the year 1988. This college have good infrastructural and instructional facilities and are well equipped. All the courses in the Engineering Colleges are ACCREDITED by the National Board of Accreditation, AICTE, Government of India. In recognition of the good work done in the realms of research and development by Dr.MGR Engineering College, Chennai. Deemed University status has been granted to this college in the name and style of Dr.MGR EDUCATIONAL AND RESEARCH INSTITUTE (Deemed University) , Chennai, by the Ministry of Human Resource Development and University Grants Commission, Government of India. (MHRD, Gol Notification No. F.9-1/2002-U.3 dt. 21.01.2003 and UGC Notification F.6.6/2002(CPP-I) dt. 13.03.03.
