Admission regulations in Arts and Science Colleges in Tamilnadu

According to the rules and regulations of the Department of Collegiate Education of Tamil Nadu Government, those students who have passed +2 can apply to  these colleges. 

The students are admitted in the Government, Government Aided, Minority and Self – Finance Colleges as per the community roster. The ranking is computed after calculating the +2 marks obtained by the student for 210. The marks in the subject choice of the student to join the Undergraduate course, play an important role in determining not only the rank  but also his selection to that particular department.
 
The applicants are pided into 5 categories based on the subjects opted in +2. The students must have studied the same subject in +2,  to join certain departments in the College, for example, Maths. Some of the degree courses can be opted by +2 students of any group, for example, Journalism and Psychology. The students applied to these different courses are categorised  under 5 groups as given below:

1. Students studied the main and allied subjects in +2. (The opted main subject marks in +2 will be calculated for 100 and the 2 allied subjects will be calculated each for 50.)

2. Students studied the main subject and any one of the allied subjects in +2. (The opted main subject marks in +2 will be calculated for 100 and the allied subject will be calculated for 100)

3. Students studied the 2 allied subjects in +2. (The marks of the 2 allied subjects will be calculated each for 100.)

4. Students studied the main subject or any allied subject. (The marks of the main subject or the allied subject will be calculated for 100 and the third pision subjects without the practicals, calculated for 100 marks.)

5. Students not studied the main and the allied subjects in +2 (The third pision subjects without the practicals, calculated for 200 marks.)
