National Institute of Technology Jamshedpur called as NIT Jamshedpur is an Institute of National Importance for Technical Education located at Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, India.
Established as a Regional Institute of Technology on 15 August 1960, it was upgraded to National Institute of Technology (NIT) in 2002 with the status of a Deemed University.
It is one of the 31 NITs in India, and as such is directly under the control of the Ministry of Education (MHRD).
Located on the outskirts of Jamshedpur, Jharkand State on a sprawling 320 acres of hilly, wooded land, it combines the natural beauty of countryside with the urban glamour of an industrial area.
It offers 12 UG and PG courses in the department of Engineering, Science, Management and also provides Research programmes.
The Institute has 11 departments including engineering, science and humanities.
Institute secured the position under the Rank-band 101-150
in the engineering discipline as per the NIRF 2023 ranking survey.
