After the uprising of the IT and the like disciplines during the 20-21st centuries, there is a wide-spread feeling in general, that the Department of Civil Services has lost its value. It is also believed that the young people from rural areas are still fascinated towards administrative jobs. However, we get a very different information from the reports of the Administrative Remedial Committee.

The Administrative Remedial Committee has reported that during the period beween 2003-04 and 2006-07, the number of persons applying for the Civil Service Examinations has been steadily increasing and that the number of persons from urban areas is higher than the number of persons from rural areas and further, only persons from urban areas desire to get through successfully in this examination to secure more opportunities.

The Committee has found fault with the system of examination taking one long year to finish the exmination, since it has three stages to go through. A candidate takes more than a year to complete successfully the Preliminary examination, Main examination and then the Interview. Hence, The Administrative Remedial Committee has insisted upon reducing sufficiently the period of examinations so as to clear them in a few months time. Such an investigation is imperative says the Administrative Remedial Committee.
