NEET-UG 2018 statistics- 9-Jun-2018

Chennai: NEET-UG 2018 results were released recently with Kalpana Kumari from Bihar topping the list with a whopping 99.99 percentile.


Totally, 13, 26, 725 candidates registered for the NEET-UG 2018, the exclusive examination towards under graduation medical studies to study in government and private medical colleges across India.


Of which 5, 80,648 candidates were male; 7,446,076 candidates were female and a lone transgender.


Held at 2255 centers, the examination was spread across 136 cities.     


Among the 12, 69,922 candidates who appeared for the examination, 7, 14,562 (56.2%) made it for medical studies.   


In Tamil Nadu, out of the 1, 20,000 candidates registered for the examination 1, 14,602 candidates appeared. With 45, 336 making the cut pass percentage of Tamil Nadu stood as 39.56%.


Pass percent going by category wise stood at OBC with 58.85%, General 57.55%, SC 50.8% and ST 41.68%.  


Tamil Nadu figured with worst pass percentage among states with high registration, with a pass percentage of 39.56%.


Nagaland stood last among the states with a pass percentage of 29.34%. Tamil Nadu stood third from the bottom of the table.


Rajasthan topped the table with the best performing state with a pass percent of 74.3%, followed by Delhi 73.73% then Haryana with 72.59%.  In the fourth and fifth position was Andhra Pradesh (72.55%) and Chandigarh (71.81%) respectively.  However, only 1309 appeared from Chandigarh of which 940 qualified.


As per category wise distribution of qualified candidates, 6, 34,897 cleared in the unreserved category; 54, 693 from the OBC category; 17,209 from the SC category; 7,446 from the ST category; 357 from the physically challenged from all the categories made it through.


NEET-UG 2018 was held in 11 languages as against 10 in 2017.
