Established with the intention to carry out and improve researches and developments in the domain of Nano Technology and Science in India, INST, known as Institute of Nano Science & Technology is an autonomous institution functioning under guidance of Ministry of Department of Science & Technology.

Situated at Mohali in Punjab, this autonomous institution became functional in 2013, January.

Nano technology cannot be just limited to handling micro elemants related to Science, Engineering and Technology. Apart from merely providing treatment to serious diseases, Scientist & Experts foresee that Nano science & Technology will influence very huge segment in the days to come.  

INST was formed after understanding this huge scope that it has in research and development.

INST carries out developmental activities in Nano Technology to be taken to the next level in collaboration with Biologist , Chemist, Physicist and Engineers.  

It plays a significant role in the development and in technological growth in diverse field such as Agriculture, National Security, Health, Energy, Environment and Water. Apart from these, it also provides technical support to various developmental projects like Swach Bharat Abhiyan, Smart Cities, Smart Villages and Make in India.  

As INST carries out mostly research based activities, it provides PhD programmes such as Materials for Energy Applications, Electro catalysts, Photo Catalyst,Super capacitors, Hydrogen Generation & Storage, Smart Materials and Sensors that are very much related to Nano Science & Technology.

Eligibility: Should have completed Msc, M.Tech or M.Pharm in the relevant the branch of study. 

Must have sufficient scores in screening tests like GATE/CSIR or  UGC-NET /JEST /JGEEBILS (TIFR/NCBS)/ICMR-JRF/DBT-JRF/DST-INSPIRE/GPAT.
