Intel, Educomp hosts session on 'Toddlers and Technology'- 25-Aug-2013
New Delhi: Chip maker Intel and education solutions firm Educomp held an interactive session to connect with young parents on introducing children to technology at an early stage.
The programme explained how a personal computing device can support positive interaction between parents and their children.
"Personal computing devices are useful tool for parents to help expand their child's learning and development in a fun and interactive way," Intel SouthAsia Director (Marketing and Market Development) Sandeep Aurora said.
Today, children are exposed to technology from the early years through the presence of multiple screens from smartphone to televisions, etc, he added.
On the impact of introducing a PC in a household with children, Educomp Solutions Head of Research and Development Bindu Rana said earlier some parents were reluctant to introduce children to technology as computing devices were viewed as a distraction.
"However, today technology is viewed as a facilitator which can help hone a child's skills. Be it helping a child discover his inner artist or facilitating a child through their studies, technology is changing the way children learn today, and making it fun," Rana added.
A personal computing device is not a baby sitter, but it has the ability to be an incredibly powerful developmental tool by expanding a toddler's learning horizon, she said.
Personal computing devices like smartphones, tablets, notebooks and desktops to newer form factors like All in One PCs, UltrabooksTM and 2-in-1 devices that act as a tablet when you want it and a laptop when you need it.
Personal computing device based applications are a great way to engage kids in active learning. Today there are apps that reinforce learning and several of them are available free of cost online. As with all learning, games and books rotate the games and apps that are being used to play with the children to assist in their development and experience.
