Southern regional conference for the Vice-Chancellors begins- 12-Sep-2008
A three-day conference for the Vice-Chancellors of southern region began at Puduchery recently in the Culture and Cultural Communication Auditorium.
The Union Minister Of State For Human Resource Sri.M.S.Purantheshwari while inaugurated and released the CD with Pondicherry University song. The importance of science in higher education and its necessity was discussed in the conference.
The Vice-Chancellors of 39 Universities including Pondicherry, Kerala, Andhra, Karnataka and Tamilnadu participated in the conference. Former Vice-Chancellors Dr.Gnanam, Dr.Prasath, Dr.Powar, Department Heads of Universities and students also attended it.
Sri. Pathan, the President of the conference while presiding over the function, specifically stated that a solution to why we need science will be arrived at through the valuable ideas conveyed in the conference The active participation of the Vice-Chancellors will herald a new revelation on the crucial role of science in higher education where an innovative approach is indispensable.
Mr.Ananthakrishnan, the Administrative Director of IIT, Kanpur, discussed how the future of all universities must be, if all the Vice-Chancellors together would put in their effective participation and productive efforts.
In the beginning Dr.Tareen, Vice-Chancellor of Pondichery University welcomed the gathering, and, Mr.Thongankar, the Secretary of the Indian Universities Association felicitated. The function came to an end with Mr.Balasubramaniam, Director for Cultural Communication Department proposed a Vote of Thanks.
