Listening calls for an extreme amount of hard work, requiring full concentration and energy from you.

- Finding fault with the speaker
- Trying to outsmart the speaker by giving information early; asking questions to distract the speaker; or even hurting the speaker at times.
- An attitude of, I know everything
- Lack of interest in the subject
- Day dreaming or absent mindedness
- Hijacked mind (co-lateral thinking while listening)
