In the previous article, we saw in length primarily about the barriers towards good listening and that communication is 80% of listening and the rest is speaking.
This article enlightens on the important principles of speaking like Precision, Conciseness, Clarity, Polite, Complete, Believable, Speed and finally Conversational.
Precision: It actually refers to the accuracy of the information passed-on while speaking. Even slight untrue information can lead to a lot of misunderstanding. This principle needs to be nurtured right from schooling itself.
Concise: Whatever information to be communicated needs to be brief and short, especially formal ones.
Clarity: Clarity emphasis on how simple the communication can be made through, without any complication or providing any scope for misunderstanding.
Polite: Since, communication deals with individuals or is carried out with people, its extremely important to maintain at most politeness. Being polite will cost nothing. Even, when somebody is wrong, you still can be polite.
Complete: Your communication needs to carry all related information. Else, it would add unnecessary effort.
Believable: In an era of the internet, where any fact or information can be easily found to be true or false, its important that the information you provide is true and hence believable.
Speed: Speed at which one speaks plays an important role for the listener to grasp the finer points. Some speak too fast to prove their strength in the language. Try to be moderately paced so that the listeners can catch the important points over the conversation. Every listener has their own speed at which they process information.
Conversational: While speaking our tone points out to many things. A conversation may turn out to be fruitful and useful only if its carried out in the right tone. Else, the listener may shut their mind to even highly valuable and productive information.
