It also facilitates the rural development efforts with particular emphasis and focus on the rural poor by improving the knowledge, skills and attitudes of rural development officials and non-officials through organising training, workshops and Seminars.

The North Eastern Regional Centre was established in 1983 at Guwahati with the aim to orient its training and research activities to the specific needs and
potentials of North Eastern States.
Important programmes:
PG Diploma in Management - Rural Development ( 2 years)
PG Diploma in Management - Rural Development ( 1 year)
Eligibility: The applicant must have obtained minimum 50% marks (45% marks for SC/ST and PWD candidates) or equivalent in Graduation from a recognised university. Students who are in the final year and expect to complete all the requirements may also apply
Selection process: Should have valid score in any of the qualifying exams: CAT / XAT / MAT / CMAT / ATMA or through All India Entrance Examination conducted by NIRDPR, Hyderabad.
Shortlisted candidates will be called for Group Discussion and Personal Interviews for final selection.
Scholarships: Meritorious students will be eligible for NIRDPRs scholarship based on their performance during the trimester examination.
