Management Aptitude Test (MAT) is a standardised test being administered since 1988 to facilitate Business Schools (B-Schools) to screen candidates for admission to MBA and allied programmes.

MAT was approved as a national level test in 2003 by the then HRD Ministry, Govt. of India.  

Any B-School - national or international - can consider MAT Score as an admission input based on the Score Cards issued to the candidates. The largest test of its kind in the nation, MAT will continue to be your passport to over 600 B-Schools across India.

Eligibility:  Graduates in any discipline. Final year students of Graduate Courses can also apply.

MAT is an objective type test designed and developed to ascertain the aptitude of the candidates to undergo Post Graduate Programme in Management. Aptitude is the potential of an individual to perform subsequent to proper training. Therefore MAT is designed to identify the potential.

The MAT has five sections, each section having forty questions. The total 200 questions are to be attempted over 150 minutes.

The five sections comprise of Language Comprehension, Intelligence & Critical Reasoning, Mathematical Skills, Data Analysis & Sufficiency and Indian & Global Environment.

MAT is generally held as computer based test and paper based test. It also provides remote proctored internet based online test too.

For the computer based test and paper based test the candidate will have to take it up from a test centre. Whereas, if the candidate wants to take it online from home will have to follow specific guidelines.     

Test centres: For the paper based test and computer based test there are test centers in 50 cities across the country.
