Every year, NATA is conducted by the Council of Architecture, New Delhi in India.
The test measures the aptitude of applicants for a specific field of study in areas like drawing and observation skills, sense of proportion, aesthetic sensitivity and critical thinking, qualities that have been acquired over a long period of time and that are related to architecture.

Institutions:
There are about 465 institutions presently imparting architectural education in India leading to recognized qualifications. The standards of education being imparted in these institutions (constituent colleges/departments of universities, deemed universities, affiliated colleges/schools, IITs, NITs and autonomous institutions) are prescribed and monitored by Council of Architecture by way of Regulations and norms & standards prescribed from time to time, which set forth the requirement of eligibility for admission, course duration, standards of staff & accommodation, course content, examination etc.


Eligibility:
Candidates who have completed their 10 + 2 examination with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics or 10+ 3 Diploma with Mathematics as the subject of study can appear for NATA 2021. Candidates appearing for 10+2 examination with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as subjects of study or 10+3 Diploma with Mathematics in the current year can also provisionally appear for NATA-2021.

Candidates will be admitted to architecture course only if they have passed an examination at the end of the 10+2 scheme of examination with at least 50% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and also at least 50% marks in aggregate of the 10+2 level examination or passed 10+3 Diploma Examination with at least 50% marks in aggregate.

Examination model:
The NATA 2021 is completely a computer-based test. The total marks for the test are 200. 125 questions have to be answered in 180 minutes (3 hours). Questions will carry 1, 2 or 3 marks. Questions could be of the Multiple-Choice type (MCQ), Multiple Select type (MSQ), Preferential Choice type (PCQ) and Numerical Answer type (NAQ).

Note: This year NATA is being held for the third time. It is possible to write this exam only twice in an academic year. Post registering with council of architecture  after successfully clearing the exam it is possible to work as an architect in our country.

Examination centers: Chennai, Kovai, Erode, Madurai, Nagercoil, Salem, Trichy, Tirunelveli, Vellore are the cities / towns function as examination centers in Tamil Nadu.
