Occupational English Test (OET) is a recognized English language test for those health care professionals planning to pursue higher education in the field of healthcare in countries like Canada, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Dubai, UK, Singapore, Male Islands. Malta, Philippines, Qatar, Spain, Namibia and Ukraine.
Who can write this exam? Candidates willing to pursue studies in the field of healthcare like Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing, Dietetics, Occupational Therapy, Pharmacy, Speech Therapy, Veterinary Science, Radiography and various other filed can take up this English language test.
Just like any other English Language Test held for those going overseas to study or work, OET also comprises of 4 divisions to test the candidates ability to Comprehend, Read, Write and Speak. This test is conducted 45 minutes for Comprehension, 60 minutes for reading, 45 minutes for writing, and finally 20 minutes to test speaking skills.
Since the test is basically meant for health care professional, the OET is significantly designed accordingly. For example in other test the candidate would be asked tom write on any topic, but here OET the candidate would be asked to present essay on medical topic or write a case study. Similarly, while testing spoken skills the candidate will be asked present narrative between a health care professional and the patient.
This test is carried out in 40 countries across the globe.
