Currently, the announcement for JEE Main 2022 has been released.


Joint Entrance Examination which is properly known as JEE is an eligibility test to studies like BE., B.Tech., B.Arch., B. Plan at several Government and Private institutions.


Importance: Until 2018 this exam was conducted by CBSE after which it is being conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA) that was formed by the government in the year 2019. This test that is held twice in a year can be attempted either once or twice, according to the choice of the candidate. In  case of a candidate appearing twice in a year, the appearance with highest marks will be taken into consideration for the rank list.     


Institutions: JEE Main comprises two papers. Paper 1 is conducted for admission to Undergraduate Engineering Programs (B.E/B.Tech.) at NITs, IIITs, other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs), Institutions/Universities funded/recognized by participating State Governments. JEE (Main) is also an eligibility test for JEE (Advanced), which is conducted for admission to IITs. Paper 2 is conducted for admission to B. Arch and B. Planning courses.


The first 2 lakh 50 thousand ranked candidates in the JEE Main 2022 are to separately apply for the JEE Advanced.   


Eligibility: Students having cleared class XII and its equivalent from a recognized board in 2020, 2021 are eligible to apply. Students appearing for the 2022 class XII exam can also apply.


This test is only for Indian national students.


Age limit: There is no age limit for this test.


Exam languages: The JEE (Main) - 2022 will be conducted in English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.


Languages English, Hindi and Urdu will be in all the examination centers across the country. Other language question papers will be based on the regional language in the particular state.  For example, the Tamil language question paper will pertain to Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Andaman Nicobar islands.    


Question Paper: JEE Main comprises two papers. Paper 1 for candidates joining BE. or B.Tech and candidates planning to join Architecture, Planning will take up Paper 2A, Paper 2B respectively. Though NATA is being conducted as an eligibility test for Architecture studies across the nation, students can join through JEE too.


Paper 1: This test that is totally computer based, has MCQ from Maths, Physics, Chemistry.


Paper 2A: This computer based question paper comprises MCQ from Maths and Aptitude. Drawing test will be held through paper / pencil mode.


Paper 2B: This is also totally computer based with MCQ model to test candidates in Maths, Aptitude and Planning.    


Each Subject will have two sections. Section A will be of Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs) and


Section B will contain Questions whose answers are to be filled in as a numerical value. In Section


B, candidates have to attempt any 05 (five) questions out of 10. There will be negative marking for


both Section A and Section B.       


Duration of the Test:  The test will be for 3 hours. However, it will be 4 hours for differently abled candidates.


Paper 2 A & Paper 2B will be 3 hours 30 minutes. But, for differently abled candidates the time duration is 4 hours 10 minutes.
