Our education as well as parenting, apart from developing our childs IQ Intelligent Quotient , it should emphasis on developing other Quotients like EQ, SQ, and AQ.

Its high time that schools along with parents need to expose children to other areas of life than just academics

According to Psychologists, there are four types of Intelligence:

1) Intelligence Quotient (IQ)

2) Emotional Quotient (EQ)

3) Social Quotient (SQ)

4) Adversity Quotient (AQ)

1. Intelligence Quotient (IQ): this is the measure of your level of comprehension. You need IQ to solve maths, memorize things, and recall lessons.

2. Emotional Quotient (EQ): is the ability to understand, use, and manage your own emotions in positive ways to relieve stress, communicate effectively, empathize with others, overcome challenges and defuse conflict.

3. Social Quotient (SQ): is the capacity to know oneself and to know others. Social Intelligence develops from experience with people and learning from success and failures in social settings. It is more commonly referred to as "tact", "common sense", or "street smarts".

Individuals having higher EQ and SQ tend to go further in life than those with a high IQ but low EQ and SQ.

Most schools capitalize on improving IQ levels while EQ and SQ are played down.

To put it simple a person of high IQ can end up being employed by a man of high EQ and SQ even though he has an average IQ.

Now comes the 4th one, a new paradigm:

4. The Adversity Quotient (AQ): An adversity quotient is a score that measures the ability of a person to deal with adversities in their life.

When faced with troubles, AQ determines who will give up, who will abandon their family, and who will consider suicide.

There are also claims that enhancing AQ can result in gains in productivity, capacity, performance, innovation and morale

Develop their IQ, as well as their EQ, SQ and AQ. They should become multifaceted human beings able to do things independently of their parents.

Finally, do not prepare the road for your children. Prepare your children for the road.
