On the basis of these documents, Singh allegedly got the approval for establishment of the engineering college at Ajmer from AICTE, they said.

"Searches were conducted yesterday at the premises of the  engineering college and Singh's residences at Ajmer and Bijnor (UP). Several incriminating documents pertaining to the allegations of the case have been recovered and the same are under scrutiny," a CBI spokesperson said.

The agency had registered a case against Singh and unidentified officials of AICTE on June 25 for criminal conspiracy and forgery. They have also been booked under the provisions of Prevention of Corruption Act.
