Satellite Technology is swiftly improving. This has started to open up numerous scope in Geological Science too.
The Ministry of Geological Science has initiated many organizations to carry on jobs concerning Oceanic and Weather related researches. Experts in Physics also have begun showing keen interest in Ocean / Mountain related researches. Since problems concerning environment have become significant, this has become an important division in Physics.
The Geological Science is the study of the aspects of Physics of the earth. Oceanographics, Atmospheric Physics, Geophysics and Seismology are some of the studies in Geological Science. Because of the growth in Satellite Technology, there is no dearth of information in this field. The greater need is the service of experts to use these information. Experts in Mathematical Physics are required for this.
India has not performed big in this field. For instance, the correct models of the rivers in India have not been created. If models of rivers are created, it will help prevention of floods. Major researches concerning underground water have also not been conducted. To become a scientist in this field, a person must have done Postgraduation and Ph D degree in disciplines such as Geology, Basic Geology, Geography, Physics, Atmospheric Science, Environmental Science. Those who have finished Ph d have opportunities In Oil or Mine organizations.
Geological Centers are available throughout the country. In the Geological Science Research Center at Kerala, researches related to earth, ocean and environment are conducted. The website www.moes.gov.in has the list of those institutes carrying research related to Geological Science. These institutes also have job scopes.
