Central Govt Scholarship for EWS ! - 16-Jul-2022
The central government provides financial assistance to help the tribals and economically backward sections to pursue higher education in foreign universities through the National Overseas Scholarship scheme.
Under the National Overseas Scholarship scheme, low-income students belonging to the Scheduled Castes, Denotified Nomadic and Semi-Nomadic Tribes, Landless Agricultural Labourers, and Traditional Artisans category can apply.
Through this scheme, scholarships are awarded to pursue higher education viz., Master's degree or Ph.D. courses by studying abroad thereby improving their Economic and Social status. It also provides the facility to pursue higher education in any field at government-recognized educational institutes or universities.
Number of Scholarships:
A total of 125 applicants are selected and given financial assistance under this scheme every year which comprises 115 in the SC category, 6 in Denotified / Nomadic/Semi-Nomadic Tribes, and 4 in Landless Agricultural Laborers / Traditional Artisans.
Of these, 30 percent of seats are reserved for women annually. In case, adequate women candidates are not available as per the stipulations of the scheme, then the unutilized slots will be utilized by selecting suitable male candidates.
Eligibility:
To be eligible for the scholarship, a minimum of 60 percent marks or equivalent in the relevant qualifying examination is required. Completing a Master's degree for Ph.D. courses and a Bachelor's degree for Master's degree courses is a must.
Age Limit:
As on 1st April should not exceed 35 years.
Income Limit:
Total family income from all sources shall not exceed Rs. 8.00 lakh per annum in the preceding financial year
Financial Aid Details:
Irrespective of the educational institution in any country, selected students are provided with tuition fees, airfare, visa fees, and medical insurance. Apart from this, allowances are also given for other expenses based on the country.
