CLAT, Common Law Admission Test, is an important national level entrance test to be written for pursuing law courses at most of the educational institutes in the country.

Significance:

22 National Law Universities jointly conduct this entrance exam. Students willing to study undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Law must write this entrance exam.

The score obtained in this examination is mandatory for admission in national-level law universities and other educational institutes. However, this exam score is not required for admission to most of the educational institutes in Tamil Nadu.

Courses: 5 years integrated undergraduate degree - LLB, and one-year master's degree - LLM,

Qualifications:

For 5 year integrated law course, 12th or equivalent with minimum 45% marks. 40 percent marks are sufficient for SC, ST categories. Students appearing for the 12 common exams to be held in March/April 2023 can also apply.

To pursue a one-year master's degree in LLM, you must have passed LLB or its equivalent course with at least 50% marks. 45% marks are enough for SC/ST category students. Students writing UG final examination in April/May 2023 can also apply for LLM.

Selection Process:

For the UG program entrance exam, questions will appear from English, General Knowledge, Legal Reasoning, Logical Reasoning, Quantitative Techniques. For the entrance exam to Master's program questions will be asked from various disciplines including Constitutional Law, Administrative Law, Family Law, Criminal Law, Company Law, Environmental Law, and Law of Contract.

How to Apply: Entrance exam will be held separately for Undergraduate and Postgraduate.

Online application fee: Rs 4, 000; Rs 3,500 for SC, ST, BPL category students.

Last date to apply: November 13

Exam Date: December 18
