Skills varsity will meet Gujarat's industrial needs: Patel- 1-Nov-2014

Vadodara: The proposed Skills University in the city would meet the manpower requirements of industries being set up in Gujarat which has received investment commitment worth billions of rupees over the last few years, Chief Minister Anandiben Patel said today.
 
"It is India's first Skills University which would meet manpower requirements of industries being set up in the State," she told PTI at Kevadiya, about 90km from here, in Narmada district.  

Gujarat has received lakhs of crores of commitments from participants of global investor summit, organised biennially by the State Government, she said.
 
"It's not Government's job alone to provide employment  to the youth. So this university coming up in Vadodara would enable youths to acquire necessary skills for getting jobs."
 
The Gujarat Government aims to provide jobs to one lakh youths every year by creating such facilities, she said.  

The CM was in Kevadiya for laying the foundation stone of "Shreshtha Bharat Bhavan", which is part of the Rs 2,979- crore Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel statue to be built at Sadhu-Bet island near Sardar Sarovar Dam in Narmada district.  

At 182 metres, the statue, to be built by construction and engineering giant L&T, would the tallest in the world. The bhavan, which will cost Rs 176 crore, will house research centres for agriculture, education and clean technology.
 
Earlier, addressing a public meeting at the venue, the CM said "Sardar Patel gave us one India and it is our responsibility to turn it into Shreshtha (excellent) Bharat."
 
Sardar Patel's birth anniversary was today celebrated as "Rashtriya Ekta Divas" (National Unity Day).  

"It is Modiji who has been following the ideology of Sardar Patel and taking steps to make a strong India," the Chief Minister said.
 
Speaking on the occasion, Mansukh Vasava, Union Minister of State for Tribal Affairs, described Modi as the "second Sardar" after Vallabhbhai Patel because he is keen on making India a superpower.
