Everyone is aware of Sam Pitroda, who brought about several drastic, latest changes in the field of information technology.
He, who is the Chairman of National Knowledge commission has also been appointed as an advisor to the Prime Minister of India for building the countries infrastructure like information technology, telecommunication and for developing new initiatives. He also provides advises to Prime minister regarding exchange of information on the technological aspects of infrastructure, health, finance and telecom industry.
Soon after taking up the new responsibility, he told that the central plans to create a National Knowledge Network across institutions through a broadband connectivity to reach out the ordinary citizens.
He said, planning was underway for the next 10 years and those years would bring out new initiatives and infrastructure development. After appointment of the former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Infosys, Nandan Nilekani as the Chairman of Unique Identification Authority of India, Sam Pitrodas new appointment turns out to be more significant.
The key recommendations of the Sam Pitroda, the Chairman, National Knowledge Commission (NKC) exposes about the changes to be brought out in the field of higher education, primary education, health, agriculture, and traditional medicine. The various recommendation s provided by him are being considered by the central Government.
The National Knowledge Network was formed and over 100 scientific research laboratories have been provided with broadband connections only based on Pitroda,s recommendations.
Sam Pitroda is well known for the technological revolution that he brought out in telecom industry when Rajiv Gandhi was the Prime Minister of India. He initiated to make the local and overseas call less expensive through providing PCO connections.
Sam Pitroda received Padma Bhusan award for his contribution in the field of Science and Engineering. He also received the Global Indian award bestowed in memory of Rajiv Gandhi.
