India is becoming swiftly industrialized due to the growth of population and because of the increase in number of industries. However, awareness of safety in Fire Prevention is quite low in our country.
Nobody realizes the danger of a fire accident. Experts in large numbers are more essential now than the early days to render service in the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mangement. The College of Fire Technology at Gujarat CFT- is the first institution in India offering B.Sc in Fire Studies. It also offers to Fire service Men, studies related to safety measures.
Students are given training in Disaster Management, Fire extinction, and Safety Measures Engineering. Besides, they are also taught the fire related new technology and about the modern implements. The B.Sc Fire Studies of the University of Gujarat also provides such a training.
The CFT has collaborated with the Leeds University of Great Britain, which grants admission to the CFT Graduates in the Postgraduation programme. By teaming up with different Fire Service Centers, it offers practical classes also to the students.The students thus get chances to know more about the latest improvements in Fire Prevention technology. This university, considering the risks in the job, takes Risk Insurance Policy in the students name.
Those who have finished this course need not worry about their jobs, since there are plenty of opportunities in both the private and public organizations, namely, Military, Railways, ONGC, Refinery and Corporation. The initial remuneration in Government organizations is Rs 8000/- pm and the Corporate offices pay
Rs.15000/-pm.
Earlier, there were no courses like these. However, in future, the demand for these professionals may be higher. Hence, the above courses have been introduced. To join this course, a pass in plus two with Chemistry and Mathematics is essential. Physical fitness will also be checked . The fees prescribed for this course is
Rs 50,000/- per annum.
