Joint Entrance Screening Test - JEST is one of the mandatory exams to get admission to Masters and Ph.D.
Importance: JEST is accepted as a national qualifying exam by 'Science and Engineering Research Board - SERB', a statutory body established by the Parliament act.
Courses:
M.Sc., - Physics / Astrophysics
Integrated M.Sc., / M.Tech., - Ph.D.,
Ph.D., or integrated Ph.D., - Physics, Theoretical Computer Science, Neuroscience, Computational Biology.
Participating Institutions:
JEST scores are accepted in institutions like ARIES, Bose Institute, HBNI, HRI, ICTS, IGCAR, IIA, IISc, IISER Bhopal, IISER Berampur, IISER, Kolkata, IISER Mohali, IISER Pune, IISER Thiruvananthapuram, IISER Tirupathi, IMSc, IOP, IPR, IUCAA, JNCASR, NBRC, NCRA-TIFR, NISER, PRL, RRCAT, RRI, SINP, SNBNCBS, TIFR-TCIS, TIFR and UGC-DAE CSR
Eligibility: Candidates who have completed any undergraduate degree like B.Sc., B.E., B.Tech., or Post Graduate degree like M.Sc./ M.C.A., can appear for this exam. Eligibility criteria differ based on the institution.
Age Limit: There is no age limit to write this exam. However, the age limit may vary depending on the participating educational institutions.
Exam Pattern: This exam is held in major cities across the country. One can write this exam any number of times. This exam score is valid for one year only.
