CM inaugurates pre-recruitment awareness counselling camp- 10-Jan-2015
Shillong: Meghalaya Chief Minister Mukul Sangma inaugurated the Pre-Recruitment Awareness-cum-Counselling Camp for career in Police and other security services including the Army, BSF, CRPF, at Ampati Multi-Facility Centre in his constituency in South West Garo Hills district.
The training is an initiative of the South West Garo Hills Police under Chief Minister’s Career Guidance Programme to encourage the young boys and girls and inform them on the criteria required for entry into security services.
Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs, Zenith Sangma, Parliamentary Secretaries Samuel Sangma and W.D.Sangma, Deputy Commissioner, Ram Singh, Superintendent of Police, R. Muthu and other officers from the District Police, Army, BSF and CRPF were among those present on the occasion.
Delivering the inaugural address, the Chief Minister it was necessary to create such kind of platforms to empower the youth with knowledge, skill and competence and help them meet the challenges while pursuing their career.
"Most of the time when the youths go for recruitment for jobs, they run from pillar to post looking for help and land up in frustration and loss of hope if their names do not appear on the list of successful candidates," he said.
Therefore it is incumbent upon all the leaders to send positive messages for the youth to nurture their dreams and insulate them from bad forces, he added.
Saying that the security service is a noble job of protecting the society and the nations, Mukul said that such programmes also help to connect with the youth and show them the positive aspect and pride and joy in joining the security forces. As such he also asked the district administration to conduct mock exams for the youths aspiring for the jobs besides the training and counselling programmes.
Informing the gathering about creation of new posts in the State Police, the Chief Minister said the government would recruit more than 1000 police personnel and that IRBN recruitment would be held sometime soon.
At the same time, the Chief Minister also urged upon the youth look out for many other opportunities being made available to them besides the security services and said that a driving school would also be opened area to give driving classes for the unemployed youth and send them outside to work.
