Choose the course of your choice!- 30-Jun-2023

Every individual have their own opinion about the courses to be chosen while moving on to higher education, based on which they provide the advices to students whom they come across.

Relatives, friends, college administrators, academic advisors and the list goes on. Thus, lot of suggestions would come up from different quarters.

Never choose a course just because others advice you to pick. Especially, opting a course that is not of your desire is a big no.  Maybe suggestions from various individuals can be taken into consideration. But, such suggestions should not be taken for granted without any deeper study.

In my opinion, each student needs to be clear about their stand of a course and then choose. Next, give more importance to advices from experienced teachers and former students who care about your welfare.

Progress of other domains:

Over the past few years, more emphasis has been given to computer-based courses. Employment and higher income are said to be the main factors for it. It is a fact. At the same time, due to the development of real estate, electronics companies, and electrical vehicles, it can be seen that courses such as civil, mechanical, electrical, electronics, and automobile are also gaining importance.

There can be no doubt that the use of computers and software has become inevitable in all fields today. However, computers and software alone are not enough for the development of a country; they are not only the future. In a situation that new fields are emerging from existing fields, the fact is that other fields are also developing with the use of computers.

Pride:

Various rankings are being published to test the quality of every educational institutions at the international level. Mostly, they are carried out by private organizations. As for as India is concerned, the NIRF ranking published by the central government is of great significance. A point here to be noteworthy is that among the top 100 educational institutions, 18 institutions are from Tamil Nadu which affirms that Tamil Nadu is lot better than any other state in the country in terms of education.

Our institute being ranked among the top 100 institutes is a sense of pride. Increased research and academic performance is the major reason for this achievement. As more research takes place, environment for continuous learning improves a great deal. Apart from engineering, today, domains such as medicine, psychology, accounts and human resources have developed with increasing amount of opportunities related to these fields. The truth is that it is necessary to develop skills related to the domains.

Both studies and opportunities are extremely important. Students should look for educational institutes that provide both these elements. Spend free time doing small internships in companies or industries.

Life will certainly flourish.

-Abhay Shankar, Vice President, Rajalakshmi Educational Institutions, Chennai.
