Pragyan gets underway at NIT Trichy- 28-Feb-2015

Trichy: NIT Trichy's, Pragyan  got underway on 26th February in the barn hall at NIT Trichy.

Initiating the proceedings, Dr. P.J Alphonse, faculty adviser of Pragyan 2015, spoke about the 11 year metamorphosis of Pragyan.

The chief guest for the ceremony wasMr.ShrikanthSrininvasan, Vice president HR, Larsen and Tubro LTD. and guest of honour Dr. Marshal Straballa, studio head of the BurjKhalifa. The ceremony was also attended by Dr. Srinivasan Sundarrajan,

The Director, NIT Trichy.Following this address, Mr. Ajay Yeshwant, Chairman of Pragyan 15 talked about the 308 day journey that Pragyan15  went through and outlined the salient features of the 11th edition of the fest.

Srinivasan Sundarrajan, Director Nit Trichy, took the dais next. He brought to attentionthe growth of the Sangam student exhibitions as an important factor in the contribution of the institute to PM’s ‘Make in India’ initiative. He also went on to say that Pragyan was the medium that tunneled student innovation to the mainstream.

A Centre for SME incubation was to be started with industrial collaboration as part of the institute’s efforts to bolster the spirit of entrepreneurship at Nit Trichy, entailing an investment close to 1 Crore. Apart from this a Technological research park was also in the pipeline of initiatives for the year 2016.

MrShrikanth Srinivasan, Head of Human Resources, Larsen and Toubro took center stage next, stating that creativity, innovation, entrepreneurship were success mantras of the corporate world. “4 days,400 colleges, 40000 minds and a logistical nightmare, it is impressive to see how smoothly an event of this scale has been organized”.

Commending the efficiency with which the fest was organized. Expanding on his success mantra, he stated that a creative idea sees fruition in the presence of sustained iterative efforts to improve an idea along the internal desire to crack a problem rather than financial remuneration. Innovation according to him rejuvenates the organization, improving competitiveness. Entrepreneurship on the other hand, he said, is where the most creative people shine, adding value to the economy.

Mementos were presented at the end to Mr. Marshal Strabala and Mr. Srikanth Srinivasan following which a vote of thanks was meted out by G.M Aravind, Overall Coordinator Pragyan 2015.
