The two organizations the National Institute of Science Communication and Information Resources and the National Institute of Science Technology and Development are the two renowned research centers functioning at New Delhi.
A few scholars of these organizations took up recently a research on the engineering and technological institutes in India. Out of the 67 distinguished Engineering and Technological educational institutes taken for research, IISc the Indian Institute of Science -- at Bangalore emerged as the best institution and topped the list. The second place in the list is IIT Kanpur, the third place IIT Mumbai, fourth place IIT Kharaghpur and the fifth place is taken by IIT, Delhi.
Jadavpur University, IIT Chennai, IIT Roorkee, Anna University, IIT Guwahati have captured 6 to 10 places. This ranking list has been prepared based on the respective institutions publications, notifications and the research ventures carried on during 10 years. IISc Bangalore stands first in releasing publications and notifications.
In the past 10 years, 75,166 research findings have been published in these 67 institutions. During this period, all universities in India have published only 59,685 research findings. Both in quantity and quality, other than the Universities, Deemed-to-be Universities, certain Engineering colleges and IIITs, IISc and IITs stand foremost. Special educational institutions like the Institute of Information Technology IIIT - that are functioning for the past few years, lag behind in the release of publications.
