JAM (Joint Admission Test for Masters) is the gateway to Master's degree programs in top central government educational institutes.
Introduction: Initiated in 2004-05, this annual exam is jointly conducted this year by the Indian Institute of Science (IISC), Bangalore, and the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT).
Courses Offered: JAM offers admission to various programs, including M.Sc., M.Sc.-Tech., M.S.-Research, M.Sc.-M.Tech. Dual Degree, M.Sc.-Ph.D. Integrated Programme, and M.Sc.-Ph.D. Dual Degree.
Eligibility: Candidates must hold a Bachelor's degree or be in their final year of Bachelor's studies. The exam is open to both Indian and foreign graduates who have completed their studies in India.
Selection Process: JAM is a computer-based test (CBT) with seven subjects: Biotechnology, Chemistry, Economics, Geography, Mathematical Statistics, Mathematics, and Physics. It consists of 60 MCQs split into three sections: 30 in Section A, 10 in Section B, and 20 in Section C. The exam lasts for 180 minutes, with a total score of 100. It must be taken in English only, and admission is merit-based with seat reservations following government regulations.
Exam Centers: JAM is held in over 100 cities nationwide.
