Chennai: In yet another initiative to promote Yoga, the Centre has announced that it will build the Central Research Institute for Yoga and Naturopathy (CRIYN) and that two places, Haryana’s Jhajjar district and Nagmangla of Karnataka have been identified for the purpose.
It has been reported that the Minister of State (I/C) for AYUSH, Shripad Yesso Naik, informed this in a written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha. After the International Yoga Day was observed recently, the government has been announcing a slew of initiatives to promote Yoga as a mandatory and alternative healthcare system. According to official sources, over one hundred institutions has been conducting courses on Yoga at various levels in the country. The Ministry of AYUSH has also set up Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga, an autonomous organisation, at New Delhi. Recently, the CBSE included Yoga as a subject for its school students.
