Overview: To pursue a career in medicine in India, aspiring doctors must clear the National Eligibility and Entrance Test, commonly known as NEET. 


Administered by the National Testing Agency (NTA) under the auspices of the Union Ministry of Education, NEET is a mandatory examination for admission into medical programs across the country.


Since its inception in 2019, the NTA has been responsible for overseeing the NEET examination process. 


For undergraduate medical courses, individuals need to take the NEET-UG exam, while for postgraduate programs, the NEET-PG exam is required. 


Aspiring students interested in appearing for the NEET-UG exam can now submit their applications.


Courses: MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BSMS, BUMS, and Ph.MS. 


Exam pattern: The exam comprises sections in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Zoology, each consisting of 50 questions, totaling 200 questions overall. Candidates must respond to 35 questions from Section 'A' in each subject, and answering 10 out of 15 questions in Section 'B' suffices.


Candidates earn 4 marks for each correct answer, with a deduction of one mark for every incorrect response. The examination is scored out of 720 marks, with 180 marks allotted for each subject. All questions are presented in a multiple-choice format.


Question Papers: NEET question papers are available in multiple languages including English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Malayalam, Kannada, Marathi, Odia, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu, and Punjabi. 


Exam time: The examination is scheduled from 2:00 PM to 5:20 PM, lasting a total of 200 minutes.

Last date: March 9th.


Exam date: May 5th.
