Indore: A three-day international conference on 'Harmony of Religions: Welfare of Mankind', organised under the aegis of the Sanchi University of Buddhist and Indic Studies, is scheduled to begin here on October 24, a varsity official said here.
The conference aims at unity through religions, fraternity, peace, prosperity and welfare, Sanchi university registrar Rajesh Gupta told reporters here.
He said that Bhutan Foreign Minister Lyonpo Damcho Dorji, Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Kanchi Math pontiff Jayendra Saraswathi would participate in the inaugural session of the conference.
Union Culture Minister Mahesh Sharma and spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar will grace the concluding function of the conference, he said.
Gupta said that 1,000 people including 100 religious leaders drawn from different parts of the world including US, Japan, China and Sri Lanka are expected to take part in the event.
The conference is being organised by the Sanchi University based in Raisen district with the help of Madhya Pradesh Culture Department and the India Foundation, New Delhi, the varsity official said.
