Coimbatore: A second standard boy was allegedly not allowed to continue studies in a private school here after his mother, a teacher there, left to join another institution.
The incident has prompted protests by some parents and others who demanded 'justice' for the child.
The parents, some members of Education Protection Committee and CPI MLA M Arumugham, along with party workers, squatted in front of the office of the District Collectore here, seeking 'justice' for the boy, J Ajay.
Police said Ajay was a student of the school at Thaneerpadal in the city, where his mother Dhanalakshmi was a teacher.
As Dhanalakshmi joined another school, the management reportedly refused him to continue his studies, depriving him of the Right to Education.
Despite pleas from parents and some members of Education Protection Committee to reinstate Ajay the management was adamant, police said.
The protesters later submitted a memorandum to the Collector.
The school management was not available for comments.
