Common Entrance Test MHT-CET-

Government of Maharashtra shall conduct a single combined Common Entrance Test MHT-CET-2009 for all Health Sciences, Engineering and Pharmacy degree courses for the academic year 2009-2010. The said CET will be held on Thursday, 7th May 2009. Detailed program regarding issue of application forms and information brochures will be announced later.
 
MHT-CET - 2008
 
Govt. of Maharashtra shall conduct a single Combined Common Entrance Test MHT-CET-2008 for all Health Sciences, Engineering and Pharmacy degree courses for the academic year 2008-2009. The Entrance Test will be held on Thursday, 8th May 2008.

 

Govt. of Maharashtra has appointed Director, Medical Education and Research, Mumbai as The Competent Authority for the MHT-CET-2008. The merit list of the above said examination will be utilized for admission in: 1) Govt./Municipal Corp./ Govt. Aided Colleges of Health Sciences degree courses. 2) Govt. /Govt. Aided/University Managed Colleges/University Departments and Unaided Private Colleges (those colleges who have given consent to participate in MHT-CET-2008) of Engineering & Pharmacy degree courses 3) BVSc & AH degree course. For selection process there will be separate Competent Authorities.

 

For selection to Health Science degree courses, The Director, Medical Education and Research (DMER), Mumbai is the Competent Authority. For selection to Engineering and Pharmacy Degree Courses, The Director, Technical Education (DTE), Mumbai will be the Competent Authority. The Authority for selection to BVSc & AH degree course is The Registrar, Maharashtra Animal and Fisheries Science University, Nagpur.

 

The qualifying Examination for appearing at MHT-CET-2008 is HSC (12th Std.) or equivalent examination with the conditions for eligibility as defined in the respective brochure(s). Candidates who have not given their requirement of application form and information brochure so far may do so on or before 16/02/2008 to their college/school where they are studying 12th standard. Those candidates who have passed their qualifying examination i.e. 12th standard examination earlier i.e. in 2007 or before and desire to appear for the MHT-CET 2008 should also give their requirement on or before 16/02/2008 to their respective college/school (from where they have passed 12th std).

 

A single Application form and three Brochures (Health Science, Engineering and Pharmacy) will be made available from 20/02/2008. The schedule and place of receiving and submission of Application Form is as per following table:

All the three brochures (Health Science, Engineering & Pharmacy) are available on the websites of DMER (www.dmer.org) and DTE (www.dte.org.in). The cost of the Application Form along with the three information brochures of MHT-CET-2008 and Examination fee is Rs.900/- for open category and all Outside Maharashtra candidates and Rs.700/- for reserve category candidates (belonging to Maharashtra State Only). This amount is not refundable. All candidates who for any reason whatsoever are not able to receive Application Forms through the School/ Jr. College should collect it from office of Divisional Authority of his/her area (by giving a Demand draft as detailed above), but he/she has to submit it through his/her School/Junior College (college where he/she studied 12th Std).

 
Important Note only for Engineering & Pharmacy Degree courses1. Outside Maharashtra State (OMS) candidates are permitted to appear for the MHT-CET 2008 in order to become eligible for admission to first year of: Four year full time Degree courses in Engineering/Technology in *Unaided Private Institutes who have given consent to participate in MHT-CET 2008. Four year full time Degree course in Pharmacy in Unaided Private Institutes who have given consent to participate in MHT-CET 2008.

 

SCHEME OF MHT-CET 2008 EXAMINATION

 

Paper I : Physics & Chemistry (50 marks each)

Paper II : Biology (Botany & Zoology - 50 marks each)

Paper III : Mathematics (100 Marks)

 

There is no choice among the questions, i.e. all questions have to be answered. The candidate desirous of selection to Health Science courses and BVSc & AH should appear for Paper I & Paper II. The candidate desirous of selection to Engineering degree courses should appear for Paper I and Paper III and the candidate desirous of selection to Pharmacy degree course should appear for Paper I & Paper-II and/or Paper-III. Those Candidates appearing only for Paper I and Paper II will be provided with one single OMR answer sheet for both papers: those appearing only for Paper I and Paper III will be given separate OMR answer sheets with each question paper and those candidates appearing for all the three papers will be given one single OMR answer sheet for Paper I & Paper II and a separate OMR answer sheet for Paper III. At the end of paper/session student will handover the OMR Answer sheet and Question booklet to the invigilator.

 

The candidate will be required to mark the correct answer by blackening the corresponding circle against the serial number of the question in the answer sheet with black ink ballpoint pen only. Out of four circles provided for selection of an answer against a question, the candidate should fill up one circle only. Each correct answer will be given mark/(s). There shall be no negative marking for wrong answers.

 

CHANGING AN ANSWER IS NOT ALLOWED: The candidates must fully satisfy themselves about the accuracy of the answer before darkening the appropriate circle, as no change in the Answer once marked is allowed. The answer once marked is final; any change in the option once marked, done by any method, will amount to an invalid/incorrect response.

 

Scratching, overwriting, tick mark and multiple answers will be considered as wrong answers and no marks will be allotted to them.

 

Syllabus of Examination: Syllabi of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics for the MHT-CET-2008 will be the same as for the current year for HSC Examination (i.e. March 2008) of HSC Boards of Maharashtra.

 

Time & duration of Examination: There will be three papers of one and half hours each. Schedule of examination is given on backside of index page.

 

Language of Question Paper: The medium for examination shall be English or Marathi or Urdu for Physics, Chemistry and Biology. However, Mathematics paper shall be in English only. The option once exercised about the medium by the candidate shall be irrevocable.

 

Examination Centre: The MHT-CET-2008 will be conducted at all the district headquarters of the State of Maharashtra. The MHT-CET examination center will be within the same district from where the candidate has passed / is appearing at the qualifying examination i.e. HSC/12th Standard examination. For the eligible candidates passing qualifying examination from outside the state of Maharashtra, the Competent Authority shall allot the examination center. The centre of examination for candidates who have passed their HSC (12th Std) or equivalent examination from an institution situated outside the state of Maharashtra (Candidates eligible under Rule 4.7 and Rule 4.8 of this Brochure and Type B, Type C, Type D and Type F of Engineering and Pharmacy Brochures) shall be the district/headquarter of the Divisional Authority where he/she has submitted MHT-CET 2008 Application Form. The center once allotted by the Competent Authority shall not be changed under any circumstances.
