Awareness regarding health and hygiene is becoming keen amidst people globally. People in search of methods to live unaffected by diseases are also steadily increasing day by day.

Doctors who have done BNYS (Bachelor of Naturopathy and Yogic Science) equivalent to MBBS get job opportunities with good salary in countries like England, Australia, America and Germany. In our country also, many corporate hospitals employ BNYS doctors.
The Government of Tamilnadu also appoints the Naturopathy doctors in the government hospitals. The BNYS course, which has a bright future, is offered in the JSS Institute of Naturopathy and Yogic Science College at Ooty, Nilgiri District. This institute functions under the JSS Mahavidhyapeetam, Mysore, Karnataka State and is affiliated to the MGR Medical University. It has a hospital attached with 100 beds. The Central Ministry of Health has accorded recognition to this institute.
The duration of the BNYS course is 5 years and 6 months including one year direct training in the hospital. To get admission in this course, a student must have done 12th Std. or its equivalent with Science subjects and must have secured good marks. The students admitted to the course have to stay compulsorily in the hostel. Separate hostel facilities are provided to boys and girls. Many doctors who have completed this medical course are employed in foreign countries as well as in the renowned hospitals in India.
