Ghaziabad: The district police here said that 19 missing children were rescued under 'Operation Smile', a campaign that was relaunched a few days back.
The operation meant to trace missing children, was relaunched nationwide on January 1, following the directions of Union Home Ministry, said Assistant Superintendent of Police Vipin Tada, the nodal officer of the programme.
Out of 19 children rescued, four were girls, identified as Maya (18) of Jaunpur district, Hema, Priya and Aisa aged between 4 to 16 years while the 15 boys are aged between 8 to 13 years, he said.
The children would be reunited with their family members after they are traced, efforts for which are underway, he said.
As many as 970 children were rescued earlier in four phases of 'Operation Smile' here which was highly appreciated by the Union Home Ministry, Tada added.
