Punjab University has introduced a PG course in police administration.
The syllabus has been designed taking into view of the recent changes at the world level and national level. Through this course, the university aims to provide students with world-class level teaching and the latest changes brought about in practical training. The main objective of the course is to make the public understand more about this department.
In this course, latest technology, information and communication technology skills, computer skills are taught. The other areas apart from this in which trainings are provided are public administration, police psychology, sociology, research methodology, law, criminology, forensic science, police practices and enquiry techniques.
The outstanding students of this course are selected in the police departments of various states and union territories. Apart from this, they can join Border Security Forces, Central Reserve Police Force, ITBP that is known as Indo-Tibetan Border Police and Central Industrial Security Forces. Even those working in the police department can get higher positions after completing this course. They can also get employed in private security agencies that provide security to banks, hospitals and universities.
Those who have obtained PG degree and 45% in any Social Science departments can join this course. And, those who obtained 50% in any one of the degree courses are also eligible to join this course. Persons who have got the above-mentioned qualification from the police department and central Para-military forces can join this course.
Totally, there are only 46 seats. The fee for this course is Rs10, 000/ - per semester, excluding other university fees. This course is also offered through distance education mode in several universities.
This two-year PG course in Police administration is also offered in Annamalai University. It is offered, both in English and Tamil medium. It is essential to have completed a degree. The fee for this course is fixed at Rs20, 000/- per year.
