Due to the rapidly growing economy the need for experts in the field accountancy is increasing. 
 
The need for competent accountants persists in the industries like BPO, KPO, small and medium sized industries, small-scale business units, shopping malls and various other business establishments.

In the next three years, it is estimated that there would be a need for about 10 lakhs accountants. It is understood that even during the economic slowdown, due the countrys rapid growth the need for this position is expected to increase every year.

It is envisaged that as per the 11th five-year plan upto 35 to 40 lakhs job opportunities are likely to be created directly or indirectly in the finance industry. Further, the probability for more jobs in this field is high.

ICWAI has introduced a new course, certificate in accounting technician. This course is designed to provide practical training skills in handling accounts and controlling.         

This course facilitates students from 2 and 3 tier cities to obtain jobs in accounting sections of customs and in preparing documentation for exports, imports companies and other business establishments.

This one-year course offers 60 hours of computer training, 15 days special training, and six months practical training. It is essential to have completed plus two to join this course. The fees for this course is fixed as Rs8, 600/-. After the completion of the studies students can get upto 7 lakhs per annum.
