Chandigarh: Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said there should be a collaboration between private and government schools so that state-run educational institutions could also provide better education.

"We want to bring government schools at par with private schools," he said, while speaking at an interactive session on 'Improving Quality of Education in Government Schools of Haryana' organised by School Education Department here.

Many charitable organisations have given their consent to adopt up to 50 schools. There are many such organisations that have come forward to adopt more than one school, Khattar said.

He called upon the private schools to come forward and join hands with the government to improve the quality of education in government schools.

While describing improvement in quality of education in government schools as a big challenge and need of the hour, Khattar also asked the officers to identify such schools in all districts that are willing to collaborate with private schools for improving the quality of education.

He said there are about 40,000 schools both in government and private sector functioning in the state. Government schools have good infrastructure and other facilities, but lack of zeal appears in government system.

The education level in private schools is considered better as compared to that of the government schooling system.

He urged teachers to provide quality education with moral values to the students so that they could not only ensure their better future but also contribute for the society.

Khattar asked officers to organise such meetings in future at zonal and district level also.

Meanwhile, Education Minister Ram Bilas Sharma said that education system is being transformed from primary level to higher level in a scientific manner under Khattar's guidance.

A book having curriculum of moral values and Gita has also been released in Kurukshetra on July 5 so as to inculcate moral values among students.
