Several students are there in India living with a burning desire to climb up the ladder of success in their lives with education as their base.

Most of them prefer to study and develop their skills in the leading universities found in countries particularly like Australia, America and Germany.

More number of Indian students stay in Australia and pursue their higher studies when compared to other countries. The Australian Government provides several concessions and benefits to attract Indian students.

However, the recent attacks against Indian students staying in Australia have sent shock waves among the International students community. Apart from facing a critical situation in terms of the foreign exchange that came through the foreign students who coming to pursue their higher education in Australia, the Australian Government is unable to remove this stigma among the International students community due to the action of some troublesome Australian youths. Although several reasons are being provided for the attacks particularly on Indian students by the Australian students, the exact reason for the attacks are believed that the Indian students are doing extremely well in their academics than the Australian students.

The Indian students, who do not focus on other things except studies and their parents, have started to show more interest towards the study in America next to Australia. In the last year alone, 94, 563 students from India had got approval to study in American Universities.

As the Indian students population is very high in comparison to other country students, at International level the American Government is trying to retain this opportunity. In all the education based American magazines, several articles are comes out about the welfare of Indian students, the privileges provided to them and their safety.

A separate website has been established for the benefit of Indian students those who wish to pursue their education in America. Modernization of the entire Indo-US council has been carried out and emphasis was laid on providing various facilities to the students. The site provides details on the number of universities functioning in America, the fee details, details on hostel expenses and provides easier means for the students to apply.  The entire interview process has been made easy for the students obtaining visa. The website carries clear and elaborate details about, how to approach the visa officers, the documents necessary and information about the number of days within which the VISA could be obtained and other many other details like regarding this topic.

Apart from this, the American magazine also releases articles compiling the experiences of some UG final year students, their suggestions and advise. A recently, released article about the experiences of Arjun Basin, an Indian student studying computer science final at Booth University is provided below:

After systematically obtaining the visa, immediately after landing in the American airport, I felt as though I was in new world and born again.  All the things I saw were new to me and my eyes.  As soon as I entered the university campus, my anxiety and fear vanished.

Like me, there were several students like me in the campus. As soon as I saw them with the characteristic features of their country my loneliness disappeared, I was filled with more delight and interest to know more about them. After the first day classes, while standing in the university campus, our professor walked passed us. A student standing beside me called out to him with respect, Sir. He called us close to him and told that he prefers students calling him shortly with the first half or the second half of his name. He also told us in a soft voice, I am also a person like you, dont call me Sir and alienate me.

We were amazed by the way the Professor, a doctorate in his subject, came and told his name and asked us to call him with that name. Apart from this, we were enlightened about the teacher- student relationship. The biggest drawback that the Indian students posses is, they do not mix with other country students; instead they only mingle with Indian students or isolate themselves.

Indian students think that during free time, going to library or sitting under a tree and studying is a prime importance. But, the American students are concerned about doing a particular work in a specific time.  Americans give more importance to physical health and fitness. Americans try to keep their body in good shape and tone through games and physical exercise. All the students expect us to come forward and make friendship.

No one disturbs those who isolate themselves. But, if we happen to make friendship with others we can obtain good experience and expand our knowledge. It would also help us to get good job opportunities through them, which would help to improve our economic condition.

Each department would minimum consist of 300 students. Hence, it is very difficult to have direct contact with the faculty. Only with our exemplary skills it would be possible get familiar with the faculties.

All the students are expected to do their work independently.  Right from research article to any sort of education related article that we write should be done independently, without getting help from others. Apart from considering its as big default, the student would be taken to task to an extent of sending out them of the University.

Student, Arjun Basin narrated this testimony.

We wish all the best for the success of Indian students who are waiting to accomplish the through an American dream.
