New Delhi: A teachers' body has demanded making public the report of Pay Review Committee (PRC) which was constituted by the University Grants Commission (UGC).

Seeking an early disclosure of the report and smooth implementation of the pay review, the teachers' body has said if its demands are not met its members would hold protests.

According to a statement released by the All India Federation of University and College Teachers' Organisations (AIFUCTO), its general secretary Prof Arun Kumar met UGC officials and discussed about 7th PRC implementation at the earliest.

He also submitted a representation for making the PRC report public immediately.

AIFUCTO has expressed concern that the seventh Pay Review Committee remains "unpublished and unimplemented", the statement said.

AIFUCTO representation met PRC chairman and its other members and expressed their anguish at the delay in the submission and implementation of the report, it added.

Claiming that there was lack of transparency in the way issues related to teachers and higher education in India are treated, AIFUCTO said the report should be immediately shared with teachers' bodies so that all anomalies may be discussed to reach final settlement for the earliest implementation for seventh PRC.

"Hope the report is made public at the earliest failing which the teachers would have no option but to take the path of protest and agitation," the statement added.
