Admission to 2010 NIFT- 23-Jan-2010

National Institute of Fashion Technology was set up in 1986 under the aegis of the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India. This institution was established with the purpose of developing fashion industry in India, which had already flourished in several countries across the globe. The Institute has its branches across the country at New Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai, Gandhinagar, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai, Raebareli, Bhopal, Kannur, Patna and Shillong.


These institutions provide world-class education to students on fashion and fashion related courses.  Student of these institutions get opportunities to work in foreign countries through campus interview.  Admission to 2010 NIFT has been announced.  A common entrance examination would be conducted for the admission to all NIFT branches. Admission would be provided based only on the vacancies available in each branch.


Courses offered at NIFT  

Bachelor Programmes - DESIGN


B.Des. (Fashion Design / Leather Design / Accessory Design / Textile Design / Knitwear Design / Fashion Communication)

Eligilbility:

The +2 level examination in the 10+2 pattern of examination of any recognized Central/State Board of Secondary Examination, such as Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi, and Council for Indian School of Certificate Examination, New Delhi.

 
OR

3 or 4-years diploma recognized by AICTE or a State Board of Technical Education.

 
Bachelor Programme - TECHNOLOGY

B.FTech. (Apparel Production)

Eligibility:
 
The +2 level examination in the 10+2 pattern of examination of any recognized Central/State Board of Secondary Examination, such as Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi, and Council for Indian School of Certificate Examination, New Delhi with Physics, Chemistry and Maths.

   OR

3 or 4-years diploma recognized by AICTE or a State Board of Technical Education (Engineering background).

(Candidate must pass in Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics)

PG courses:

Master Programme - DESIGN

M.Des. (Master of Design)


Eligibility: 

B.Sc. (Textiles & Clothing)

 
OR

Bachelor in Applied Arts (Fashion Design / Visual Communication / Graphic Design / Industrial Design / Interior Design / Multimedia Design / Product Design / Textiles & Accessories.

 
OR

B.Arch.

 
OR

Design Diploma / Degree from NIFT / NID / International University of repute         
Candidates having additional industry experience in the relevant fields would be preferred.

Master Programme - TECHNOLOGY

M.FTech. (Master of Fashion Technology)

Eligibility: B.E. / B.Tech. (Textiles / Apparel / Mechanical / Industrial / Production / Electronics / Computer / Information Technology)

Master Programme - MANAGEMENT

M.F.M. (Master of Fashion Management)

Eligibility:A three years Bachelors Degree or equivalent in any discipline recognized by the Association of Indian Universities or Diploma in Accessory / Fashion Design / FIT from NIFT only.

For foreign Bachelors Degree, not recognized by the Association of Indian Universities, proper certification by a National Body constituted in the country concerned for granting equivalence will have to be produced.

Age limitation: Please note that the upper age limit for applying in bachelor programmes is restricted to 23 years as on 1st November 2009.

Reservation of Seats: The seats reserved for SC / ST / Physically Handicapped Candidates (PHP) / Foreign Nationals / SAARC / NRI, in each programme are as under:

SC 15%  
ST 7.5%
OBC 27%
Physically Handicapped

(With 40% or more disability) 3% Horizontal reservation for physically handicapped candidates cutting across all sections including SCs, STs and the Other Backward Classes and the non-reserved category.

The qualifying candidates need to meet the eligibility and admission requirements of NIFT.

The candidates applying under reserved quota would have to produce a Caste/Tribe certificate from the Competent Authorities of the respective States/Union Territories / National Commission of Tribes and OBC candidates need to produce a certificate that they dont belong creamy layer category.

Candidates seeking admission under physically handicapped quota must produce a Disability Certificate issued by the Medical Board attached with the Vocational Rehabilitation Centre (VRC) working under the Ministry of Labour, Govt. of India, certifying their disability as 40% or more.


How to apply: Prospectus along with Application Form can be obtained from the selected branches of Axis Bank across India on payment of Rs.250/- or by post enclosing a DD of Rs.350/- in favour of NIFT, New Delhi from all NIFT Centers.
   
Those willing to write NIFT entrance examination can also apply online.

Examination fees: Persons from all categories need to pay fees to write NIFT entrance examination

Online applicants

Applicants from General / MBC category should send DD for Rs1, 250/-

Applicants from SC/ ST/ Physically Handicapped category should send DD for Rs 750/-

Non-online applicants:

Applicants from General / MBC category should send DD for Rs1, 000/- and SC/ ST/ Physically Handicapped category for Rs 500/-.

All DD should be taken in favour of National Institute of Fashion Technology, Delhi.


How to apply online:

  • Before applying online pay the entrance examination fees in the bank.
  • Take print out after correctly filling up the online application.
  • Affix your photo in slot provided and sign the print out form.
  • After writing your name, application number, course applied for behind the DD post it across to the below given address.

Bachelor Programmes     : Mid of May, 2010
Master Programmes      : Mid of June, 2010
