37 govt schools to go hi-tech in Kerala - 1-Jun-2017

Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala government cleared projects worth Rs. 449 crore for the hi-tech upgradation of 37 schools and construction of a set of railway over-bridges in the State.
 
The Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB), the special purpose vehicle (SPV), envisaged to mobilise funds from outside the budget, would raise funds for the ambitious projects.
 
Thirty-seven schools and seven railway over-bridges would be covered under the programme.
 
A meeting of KIIFB, chaired by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, gave the nod to the projects worth Rs. 449 crore here today, an official statement said.
 
The project would also cover the construction of some local roads including Nedumangadu-Aruvikkara-Vellanad Road, it said.
 
With this, infrastructure projects worth Rs 12,512 crore have been cleared through KIIFB in three phases, it said.
 
The meeting evaluated the preparations for the launch of NRI online chitty, a first of its kind initiative in the country.
 
The chitty project would be launched by Kerala State Financial Enterprises.
 
Besides the Chief Minister, Planning Board Vice- Chairman V K Ramachandran, Chief Secretary Nalini Netto and other senior officials took part in the meeting, the release added.
