I have applied for a BO vacancy that was recently released by the State Bank for 3500 vacancies. How to prepare towards this? - 20-Feb-2009
Two written examinations will be conducted for the vacanies that were recently unleashed.
The duration of the preliminary examination is 2 hours. There are objective type of questions in Mathematics, Reasoning, Computer skills, General knowledge and English. The answer must be in English. In the second written examination, objective type and comprehensive questions will be asked. Two hours duration will be provided for objective type of questions. Questions will be on Reasoning, Data Analysis and Interpretation, Marketing knowledge and English. The second section comprising Comprehensive questions must be answered in English. Those who have obtained 40% in all sections of the Preliminary examination alone will be called for the next phase of the examination.
Similarly, those who have obtained 40% in each section of the second phase of examination will alone be called for the group discussion and interview. Just a pass in the examination is not enough. They should be placed in the ranking list.
The Public sector banks like the Syndicate Bank select persons for BO vacancies without any written examination, but choose persons through interview. Examinations conducted by the State Bank are found to be difficult because the second stage examinations are followed by group discussions and interview. However, if you prepare and practice meticulously and continuously, there are greater chances to succeed.
To understand the basics and have a thorough practice are vital to answer questions in Mathematics and Reasoning. For General knowledge section, you must prepare from good books.. Moreover, you have to read regularly magazines like CSR, Competition Master, Banking Services Chronicle and GK Today since questions are asked in the current affairs in the State Bank BO examinations. You must have known by this time the importance of reading News Paper.
Our students usually feel that English is the most difficult part of the paper to answer. However challenging it is, it is essential not only to pass the examination but also to come in the ranking list. You have to pay attention to the fundamentals of Grammar, usage of words and sentence structure.
The Preliminary examinations will be held in November; so, you should start preparing now onwards. Prepare rigorously for three hours daily. Make the best use of opportunities, as the vacancies announced in 2008 are expected to become sparse in 2009
