Posing great challenge to Indian companies several foreign HR companies have jumped into the fray. Hence, the HR industry in India has registered stupendous growth. Since numerous job opportunities are coming up in the field of IT and retail in the present economic scenario, the HR industry is certain to have good hope.

At the moment, as the overall domestic economy growth has touched 8 to 10 per cent, sectors like IT, Banking, Financial Service and Insurance has attained tremendous growth. Similarly, few segments like retail, telecom, real estate and tourism have gone excellent development.

It is estimated that several persons are required for jobs like customer service officer, teller, finance management officer, sales officer and claim processing officer in these industries. It is projected that these sectors would provide about 1 crore 80 lakh jobs opportunities in the year 2010.

What are the skills required?

Companies, today try to employ persons with skills to suit their company, widespread knowledge, computer knowledge and psychometric skills.

First level customer service officer job must have a degree in any one-subject, fundamental skills and characteristics like good communication skills, good voice and pronunciation, logical reasoning, computation, interpersonal, willing to work in a team, patience and empathizing skills.

For primary level jobs it is obligatory to posses a degree, but usually persons having completed post graduation are not preferred. Preferences are given to those willing to stay with company for some period of time and grow with company.

Companies hesitate to recruit persons with good qualifications, as they always would be on the look out for better prospects than continuing with the present job and company. Computer-training institutions recognized at the national level are favoured to acquire computer skills.

Salary details: Excellent salary for highly skilled persons never has been a hindrance.  Persons with good skills on an average get anywhere between Rs7, 000/- to Rs 15,000/-.

Today, M.B.A has become a relatively equivalent study to courses like B.A and B.Sc., of 20 years back. No proper planning and sub-standard education are the basic reasons for decline in quality of M.B.As. But, commonly we happen to see several persons with higher qualification like M.B.A not willing to join as bank clerks as they consider themselves to be over qualified for the job. People with this mentality should change, as they later become incompetent to obtain any sort of jobs. So, acting accordingly is very important.
