New Delhi: With the arrest of three men, the Delhi police today claimed to have busted a racket that used to forge mark sheets, including those of MBA and B.Tech courses.

The three accused were arrested from Mianwali Nagar in outer Delhi, a police official said, adding that a huge number of fake mark sheets were seized from their possession.

"We have also recovered papers used for printing the mark sheets, fake rubber stamps of several examination boards, laptops, scanner-cum-printers and paper-cutters," the official said.

According to the police, acting on a complaint, the special staff of outer district found out that a group of fraudsters, active in the Mianwali area, was supplying fake mark sheets to students for a huge amount of money.

“A man, identified as Shiv Shankar, was found to be running the racket. He had cheated the complainant to the tune of Rs 2.5 lakh and was demanding an extra Rs 50,000 for the final degree. A case was registered,” said the official.

A police team was formed and a trap laid at the Chaudhary Prem Sukh Marg office of Shiv Shankar, who was apprehended from his office and a huge number of fake mark sheets, migration, provisional certificates, pen drives etc. were recovered.

Shiv Shankar disclosed the names of two of his associates -- Manish Bansal and Gautam Gupta -- who were arrested from a nearby area, the police said.

During interrogation, the accused told the police that they used to get the mobile phone numbers of people from popular internet search engines and also distribute pamphlets door to door.

To convince the prospective clients, they used to provide a detailed description of all the universities, downloaded from the internet.

"The accused used to provide forged mark sheets and degrees of those universities, which were recently closed by the UGC, so that the students could not verify the genuineness of such degrees,” the official said.
