In the current circumstances, Social Work is considered important for social development. Only those who have a flair for social work can only excel in this field. Currently the society has developed a new vision about social work. Persons involved in this field will definitely have great mental satisfaction. Integrity, enthusiasm and hard work are essentials to be a good social worker.

Social work sector has been divided in to Community Development social work, Medical and Psychiatry social work and Human Resource Social work. Those who do their studies in social work can become researchers of Human Race, Social scientists and Psychologists. India has got very good job opportunities in social work related fields.

Job opportunities are available in both Government or Public Sector and Private Sector. There are educational institutions, which offer social work courses combined with job opportunities.

Social Work Courses:

Social work studies have got Graduation, Post Graduation, M.Phil. and Ph.D. courses.

1 - B.A. (Social Work)
2 - M.A. (Social Work)  
3 - B.S.W. (Social Work)
4 - M.S.W. (Social Work)
5 - M.Phil.
6 - Ph.D.

Eligibility Conditions:

* For Graduation courses, an aspirant should have passed 10+2 examination with any of the subjects. Also students are selected based on entrance examinations for admission for Social Work courses. The candidates are tested in the interview for patience, awareness and interest in social work.

* Those who have finished Under Graduation in social work can join the Post Graduation course in social work.

* To join M.Phil. Course, a candidate should have cleared M.S.W or PG in Social Work

* For doing research work in Social Work [i.e.] Ph.D., a candidate should have completed M.S.W. or M.Phil. in Social Work.

Job Opportunities In Social Work:

As social work study is classified into three major branches, jobs related to social work are wide-ranging like opportunities in Prisons and other Government Departments, Mental Asylums, Counseling Centres, Medical Colleges and Hospitals, Social and Welfare Organizations, Women and Child Welfare Organizations and Educational, Environmental protection institutions, corporate sectors, MNCs, private sectors and manpower consultancies.
