Hinduism and Nature- A Book by Dr. Nanditha Krishna- 17-Jul-2018
Chennai: ‘Hinduism and Nature’ a book authored by Dr. Nanditha Krishna, historian and environmentalist was formally launched on recently.
Justice P.N Prakash of Madras High Court launched the book and handed over the first copy to Prof. N. Rajendran, Vice Chancellor, Alagappa University.
Addressing the elite audience, Justice Prakash said “The book is a scholarly book, not based on imagination. It has simple and straight forward language filled with Anecdotes. The book is easy to read and meant for common man and it also gives a fascinating account of tree and plant worship in India from time immemorial.
The book launch was followed by a unique seminar on Religion and Ecology - six religions were covered.
The speakers were Fr. Rayappa A. Kasi – Christianity, Mr. O.N. Krishnan- Buddhism, Dr. Priyadarshana Jain- Jainism, Dr. Sultan Ismail- Islam, Ms. Manveen Kaur Chadha- Sikhism and Dr. Nanditha Krishnan- Hindiuism respectively.
The religious heads emphasized on how things can be done jointly so that the country prospers.
